The Transition of Japanese Women’s Makeup

The Transition of Japanese Women’s Makeup

In April, Shiseido published an article titled “The Transition of Japanese Women’s Makeup,” which revisited makeup trends of the past century in Japan. The makeup presented in the article was done all on one single model by Senior Hair and Makeup Artist Setsuko Suzuki.
The article includes detailed information about these trends, but today, I will like to add my own opinions on each trend, along with some references from pop culture. The first part will cover trends from the 1920s until the 1970s.
